Privacy Policy
Acru by Acru Studio — Last updated: April 4, 2026
Acru represents a creative marketplace for film, TV, and commercial production professionals, with this policy detailing data collection, usage, and user rights.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: Registration requires email and password, with the latter secured through Firebase Authentication.
Profile information: Users voluntarily provide name, role, bio, experience level, genres, vibe tags, production types, city-level location, profile photos, reel URLs, and credits.
Usage data: The app tracks interactions including sparks, pings, pitches, and messages, along with posted projects and feature engagement to enhance user experience.
Device and location data: With permission granted, approximate location data helps surface relevant projects and collaborators nearby.
We collect city-level location only, not precise GPS coordinates for tracking purposes.
Payment information: Subscriptions route through Apple's In-App Purchase system and RevenueCat, with neither storing payment credentials directly.
Communication preferences: Users indicate marketing communication preferences during onboarding, adjustable anytime within the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Account creation and profile maintenance
- Matching users with relevant talent and projects by role, genres, vibes, and location
- Enabling user messaging
- Processing purchases and managing subscriptions
- Sending notifications about matches, pings, invites, and pitch responses
- Enforcing community guidelines
- Improving app experience and fixing bugs
- Analyzing aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to enhance matching algorithms and features

3. Information Sharing
The platform does not sell personal data to third parties. Information sharing occurs only in limited scenarios:
Other users: Profile information becomes visible to marketplace participants.
Service providers: Firebase (Google), RevenueCat, and Apple process data under their respective privacy policies.
Email communications: Opted-in users' email addresses transfer to the email service provider for marketing delivery only.
Analytics: Anonymized, aggregated data supports trend analysis and app improvement without identifying individuals.
Legal requirements: Information disclosure may occur when legally mandated or necessary for user safety protection.
4. Data Storage and Security
Firebase (Google Cloud) servers store user data, with Firebase Authentication securing login credentials and Firestore security rules limiting access.
Only you can modify your own profile data. Conversations are only accessible by participants.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Edit profile information anytime through the Edit Profile page
- Permanently delete account and associated data, including profile, messages, crew connections, and projects
- Enable Stealth Mode (Pro subscribers) to hide profiles from Discover while maintaining other functionality
- Block users from viewing profiles or initiating contact
- Deny location permissions while retaining core app functionality
- Disable push notifications through device settings
- Opt out of marketing emails via app settings or email unsubscribe links
6. Children's Privacy
Acru targets users aged 17 and above.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 17, we will delete it promptly.
7. Data Retention
User data persists during account activity. Account deletion removes profile data, messages, and content, though backups may retain information for 30 days post-deletion. Anonymized usage data persists for analytics purposes.
8. Changes to This Policy
Policy updates may occur periodically, with material changes communicated through the app or email. Continued platform use following updates indicates acceptance of revised terms.
